Don Cunnings fonds

The fonds consists of records created and accumulated by Don Cunnings, documenting his involvement in sport and recreation in Coquitlam. The archivist arranged the fonds into three series. One series documents the activities of Cunnings during his tenure at the District of Coquitlam Parks and Recreation Department. The second series consists of personal and professional records accumulated by Cunnings, documenting his various professional positions for reference and posterity. The third series consists of photographs and other media.

The records include photographs, newspaper clippings, newsletters, correspondence, recorded documentaries, three scrapbooks, and assorted textual records and ephemera.

School of Psychiatric Nursing Records

This series consists of records created and accumulated by the School of Psychiatric Nursing at Riverview Hospital. It includes administrative and financial records that informed the operation of the School, annuals (yearbooks) of each graduating class of the School, the publications accumulated from national psychiatric nursing organizations, as well as graduation and departmental photographs.

Record types in this series include manuals, reports, policies, handbooks, staff lists, event programmes and invitations, minutes, study notes, yearbooks, and publications.

This subseries consists of records related to administrative, operational, and financial functions at at the School of Psychiatric Nursing as well as records from its events and graduations. The subseries also includes some records from New Westminster Public Hospital for the Insane, with unclear chain of custody.

Record types include manuals, reports, policies and procedures, histories, study notes, staff lists, programs, minutes, pay slips, constitutions, and bylaws.

Personal and Family Records (Including Awards and Recognition)

The series consists of records relating to awards and recognition received by Russell Hellard for his various volunteer positions, including his award for Citizen of the Year in 1989. The series includes photographs of awards and ceremonies, as well as the corresponding certificates and correspondence regarding the awards. The series also includes a number of personal photographs of Russell Hellard's family and home.

News clippings

The series consists of two news clippings from the Coquitlam Now from 1986. The first discusses the pageant and the second is an advertisement for Georgio's Night Club, that shows photographs of all of the contestants. Georgio's sponsored Deborah Smyth who won Miss Congeniality and donated the records in this collection.

Maillardville research materials and manuscripts

The series consists primarily of photocopied materials accumulated by Boire relating to the history of Maillardville as well as the research notes he created during the process of writing and publishing his book, "With Hearts and Minds."

Record types include newspaper articles and clippings, newsletters, printed materials, correspondence, recorded interviews, reports, biographies, inventories, handwritten notes, photographs, a map, a thesis, and digital records. The series also includes manuscript copies of "With Hearts and Minds."

Events and programs

The series contains records related to events held and specific programs supported by the Burquitlam Lions Club from 1969 to 2018. The Burquitlam Lions Club organized annual Christmas hampers, Easter Egg hunts, and meat draws. They also supported hearing aid and eyeglass initiatives, Easter Seals camps, and notably funded two care centres: the Burquitlam Lions Intermediate Care Centre (1981-2016) and L.J. Christmas Manor Seniors Home.

Record types include event planning materials and timelines, correspondence, guestbooks, newspaper clippings, as well as activity reports, photographs, and scrapbooks.
