Administrative history

The IODE is a women’s charitable organization in Canada that focuses on children, education and community service. Originally known as the Imperial Order Daughters of the Empire, the organization was founded in 1900 to promote and support the British empire and its soldiers. The name IODE was officially adopted in 1979. The charity has approximately 3,000 members and more than 200 branches across Canada.

The item consists of a scrapbook prepared by the International Order of the Daughters of the Empire- Centennial Chapter No. 3041 to mark the occasion of the centennial. The scrapbook contains a copy of the order's charter, along with newspaper clippings, photographs, event programs, and invitations.

Physical condition

The copy of the charter has broken in half on the opening page of the scrapbook. It has been taped at some point in its history and the tape has now detached. Handle with extreme caution to avoid further damage.
