ArtsConnect Tri-Cities Arts Council fonds

The ArtsConnect Tri-Cities Arts Council fonds consists of the records created and received by the arts council and reflects its exhibitions and events, programs, workshops, awards and scholarships, fundraising, and advocacy for the arts in the Tri-Cities, predominantly from 1990 to 2008.

The fonds consists of a record types including minutes, reports, constitutions, correspondence, event planning files, production and exhibition files, newspaper clippings, newsletters, publications, plans, programmes, a scrapbook, promotional materials, and photographs depicting the many arts and cultural initiatives ArtsConnect organized and sponsored.

Pamphlets and Publications

The series consists of various publications and pamplets collected by Pioneer Tales of Coquitlam Committee to provide historical context for the interviews in the book, "Coqutilam 100 Years: Reflections of the Past," published by the District of Coquitlam in 1991.

Exhibitions, events, and media coverage

The series consists of records produced and accumulated by ArtsConnect in the course of planning, organizing, and mounting arts and culture exhibitions and events. ArtsConnect organized many exhibitions covering a wide range of media: painting, sculpture, photography, performing arts, decorative arts, and video art. Annual exhibitions featured in the series include Works in 3D, Faces of the World Arts and Culture Festival, Vernissage, and Innovations. The series also includes the media coverage of events and exhibitions.

The resulting records are largely textual in form and include correspondence with artists and exhibitors, press releases, art and artist lists, exhibition proposals, application forms, internal memos and scheduling documents, installation records, artist CVs, contracts, didactics, artists' statements, promotional materials, invitations, condition reports, loan agreement forms, and newspaper clippings. Some audio and visual material, including photographs, installation plans, cassette tapes, and magnetic tapes, are also present.

Riverview Hospital Historical Society collection

The Riverview Hospital Historical Society collection consists of the records collected and maintained by the Riverview Hospital Historical Society (RHHS). Through their museum and library, the RHHS acquired and stewarded records documenting the history of Riverview Hospital, the British Columbia School of Psychiatric Nursing, and the history of psychiatric care in British Columbia.

The collection consists of a range of documentary forms, including: reports, theses, newspaper clippings, newsletters, publications, correspondence, manuals, plans and drawings, directories, inventories, procedures, programmes, annuals, invitations, motion pictures, personal narratives, staff lists, minutes, study notes, scrapbooks, ephemera, and photographs depicting aspects of social and administrative life at the hospital and school.

The collection is arranged into ten series that reflect original collections maintained by the RHHS, and are organized by media type or content. See the Arrangement note below for more information.

Riverview Hospital Administrative and Event Records

This series consists of records related to the administration and operation of Riverview Hospital as well as some of the official events and programs organized by the hospital. The series is arranged in two subseries:

SS1: Administrative records
SS2: Event records

Records in this series include manuals, directories, inventories, regulations, procedures, correspondence, programmes and invitations.

Reference Materials

This series consists of assorted materials collected for reference purposes by the Riverview Hospital Historical Society and originally acted as a reference library when the Society ran its museum. It contains publications, clipped articles, studies, DVDs, transcripts, and pamphlets. In addition to its reference collection, the series contains a subseries of the scholarly communications and theses arising from research undertaken at Riverview Hospital. Many publications are originals; however this series also consists of copies of articles.

Riverview-related publications

This subseries consists of public relations communications about the history and development of Riverview Hospital made by the Province, privately owned television, and from the Hospital itself. It was originally a division in the museum library collection. This subseries shows aspects of life at Riverview Hospital from anecdotes of former employees, to land use surveys, and digitized videos of different hospital wings and buildings.

Record types include reports, pamphlets, a videocassette, and DVDs containing digitized materials.

Miscellaneous publications

This subseries contains miscellaneous reference materials that were not related to scholarly communications or public relations materials. It was originally a division in the museum library collection. Record types include guides, assorted journal articles and reports, newspaper articles, and best practices.

Centennial Committee

The series consists of records relating to the Centennial celebrations in Coquitlam in held in 1991. Records are primarily photographs but also include news clippings and pamphlets. Photographs depict Hellard and other committee members, the centennial mascot "the Town Logger," Mayor Lou Sekora, and images from the PNE Parade.

Coquitlam Municipal Elections materials

The series consists of election pamphlets for candidates for Mayor, Council, and School Trustee for campaigns held in the 1990s. The series also includes a pamphlet from the City of Coquitlam's Financial Services Department about the allocation of property taxes.

The file includes pamphlets for the following Council candidates during campaigns in the 1990s: Jim Stangier, Diane Thorne, Louella Hollington, Ben Lee, Bill Melville, Jon Kingsbury, Ken Wood, Maxine Wilson, Kent Becker, Barrie Lynch, Bill Leclair, Mae Reid, Daniel Chu, Richard Gettle, and George Christian Nielson.

Candidates for School Trustee - Pamphlets

The file includes pamphlets for the following School Trustee candidates during campaigns in the 1990s: Maxine Wilson, Barb Hobson, Gail Alty, Gerri Wallis, Frank Baratto, Jan Gardner, Anne Kachmar, Dr. Marvin Wideen, and Stephen Lisik.

Newsletters and publications

The series consists of newsletters and bulletins created by ArtsConnect about events, exhibitions, and arts and culture news in the Tri-Cities, Belcarra, and Anmore. The series also includes brochures, photographs, fliers, and other promotional materials created by ArtsConnect for increasing membership and engagement in the arts in the area.

This subseries consists of records related to the administration and operation of Riverview Hospital that were made and received by the Hospital. Records include employee handbooks, regulations, procedures, codes, manuals; program materials; telephone and physician directories; annual reports; financial information; blank hospital forms; a certificate of incorporation; and the Riverview Tree Inventory.
