Transferring the Stone

The file consists of a series of videos documenting the "Transferring the Stone" ceremony that commemorated the transfer of stone from the AOH Celtic Cross at Grosse Ile, Quebec to Coquitlam, B.C. The ceremony was held at Place des Arts on October 5, 2009. Grosse Ile served as a quarantine station during the Irish migrations in the late 1840s and the stone represents the struggles faced by Irish immigrants in the 19th and 20th centuries. It was placed at the altar of Our Lady of Fatima Parish Church.

Photographs

The series includes 25 digital photographs (jpg) taken by members of the Burquitlam Community Association (BCA) in 2004. The photographs depict local landmarks as well as a BCA meeting held in November, 2004.

The collection consists largely of research materials and notes created in the preparation of Boire's book "With Hearts and Minds" published in 2016. The remainder of the collection consists of materials collected by Boire from Caisse Populaire Maillardville Credit Union, as well as accumulated material pertaining to Boire’s involvement in several community initiatives, such as the Maillardville Residents' Association, Maillardville revitalization and planning, and Place Maillardville.

Materials include correspondence, photographs, administrative records, interviews, reports, handwritten notes, clippings, advertising and professional materials, newsletters, research materials, prints, postcards, ephemera, a map, embossing seals, a lid from a glass milk bottle, and other documents. The collection also includes a manuscript copy of “With Hearts and Minds”.

The collection includes the following: records related to Fraser Mills (later the Canadian Western Lumber Company, then Crown Zellerbach) including ledger books, journals, statements, photographs, and various other records; records related to the lumber industry in Coquitlam; photographs of historic Coquitlam; glass plate negatives by W.J. The series consists of records relating to reunions attended and/or organized by Tim Kernighan including a reunion of students who attended Como Lake Middle School, a reunion of students who attended Lord Baden-Powell Elementary School, a Boys Scouts reunion, and a reunion of residents of Hailey Street.

The collection consists of approx. 640 photographic prints used for the "Coquitlam 100 Years: Reflections of the Past" publication produced by the District of Coquitlam in 1991. The collection also includes the transcripts of interviews used in the publication as well as the administrative files of the Pioneer Tales of Coquitlam Committee and various publications and pamphlets used for contextual information for the book.

The series consists of records produced and accumulated as part of Craig Hodge's duties on the Pioneer Tales Committee Book Committee. The series includes photographs in the form of copy negatives and prints, as well as some original prints, and assorted documentation.

Crime Prevention and Community Policing Committees

The series consists of records relating to Russell Hellard's participation on the Crime Prevention Committee and later the Community Policing Committee. Hellard was Chairman of the Crime Prevention Committee from 1989-1991 and was Chairman of the Community Policy Committee from 1992-1994. A re-direction dictated from the RCMP in Ottawa changed Crime Watch to Community Policing Committees. Records include Annual Reports, committee meeting minutes, Chairman's reports, notes, and photographs. Records also pertain to the establishment, inauguration, and management of the Tri-City Community Crime Prevention Services Centre, and the activities of police officer Eric Chan, who founded the program.

1986 Heritage Inventory Files

The series includes working files related to properties in the Maillardville area that were assessed for heritage value by external contractors in 1986. The files include photographs taken by the assessors, a copy of the typed assessment of each property, and related documents added by Planning and Development staff over the years. Related documents include copies of land titles maps, permit applications, copies of reports to Council, correspondence, copies of Bylaws, engineering reports, copies of assessment cards, copies of news clippings, and colour photographs.

The collection consists of records accumulated by Shyla Seller during her time as a student at Parkland Elementary School, Como Lake Junior Secondary School, and Centennial High School.

Record types include yearbooks and annual directories, report cards, certificates, photographs, and a newspaper clipping.
