Photographs

The series consists of photographs predominantly depicting aspects of social and administrative life at Riverview Hospital and the School of Psychiatric Nursing as well as and Colony Farm. The photographs in the series portray the everyday social life of Riverview Hospital staff and volunteers as well as events, meetings, gatherings, and kinds of work they undertook. Additionally the series depicts scenes of Riverview Hospital's many buildings in varying states of completion, portraits of prize winning livestock (Holstein cattle, Clydesdale and Belgian horses), scenes during periods of flooding at Colony Farm, and equipment, vehicles, and technology used by the Hospital.

The glass plate negatives in Subseries 01 and 04 are known to have been taken by W.J. Moore, a prominent Vancouver photographer. It is possible that the entire collection was taken by W.J. Moore, although it has not been possible to confirm. Some photographs in Subseries 02 are thought to depict the Provincial Hospital for the Insane in New Westminster. Photographs in Subseries 04 are also thought to depict the Dominion Experimental Farm in Agassiz, B.C.

Record types consists largely of silver gelatin negatives in large format cellulose acetate sheets and cellulose acetate film strips. The subseries also contains a collection of glass plate negatives, chromogenic colour negative film strips and large format sheets, silver gelatin DOP prints, a photograph album, and a scrapbook.

Colony Farm Records

This series consists of records related to the construction and operations on Colony Farm at Riverview Hospital. The materials relate to the original construction planning and dyking done to create Colony Farm, as well as some of the early auction and sale records of cattle and horses.

Record types include correspondence, financial records, agreements, receipts, a certificate, and policy material.

School of Psychiatric Nursing Records

This series consists of records created and accumulated by the School of Psychiatric Nursing at Riverview Hospital. It includes administrative and financial records that informed the operation of the School, annuals (yearbooks) of each graduating class of the School, the publications accumulated from national psychiatric nursing organizations, as well as graduation and departmental photographs.

Record types in this series include manuals, reports, policies, handbooks, staff lists, event programmes and invitations, minutes, study notes, yearbooks, and publications.

Oral Histories

The series consists of transcriptions of oral histories and interviews of locals. Interview subjects include Mrs. Proulx, Mr. Rodolphe Boileau, Jean Baptiste Dicaire, and Alfred Booth.

Research Materials

The series consists of research material created and accumulated in the 1970s in support of a research project about housing in Maillardville and Fraser Mills.

Record types include hand-drawn floorplans of houses, hand-written notes, newspaper clippings, and promotional material for the Crown Zellerbach Corporation.

The series consists of several academic papers that were written using research materials gathered in the 1970s.

The series consists of Leisure Guides for recreation programming in the District of Coquitlam. The guides include lists of activities for different age groups.

The series consists of voter's lists, later called list of electors and lists of registered electors. The lists include residents names and addresses.

The series consists of records relating to organizations outside The Corporation of the District of Fraser Mills including the Union of B.C. Municipalities, the Greater Vancouver Water District Meeting Minutes, the Lower Mainland Regional Planning Board of B.C., and the Inspector of Municipalities.

Amalgamation Records

The series consists of records relating to the amalgamation of the Corporation of the District of Fraser Mills and the Corporation of the District of Coquitlam. It includes draft agreements, correspondence, and newspaper clippings.

Council Minutes

The series consists of council minutes from the first Council meeting of the Corporation of the District of Fraser Mills, held on April 21st, 1913, through to the final Council meeting held on October 18th, 1971. It was noted that the next Council meeting would take place on October 21st, 1971, but there are no minutes of this meeting. The Corporation of the District of Fraser Mills officially amalgamated with the District of Coquitlam on November 1st, 1971.

City of Coquitlam Newsletters

The series consists of copies of the community newsletter "City of Coquitlam News" as well as copies of the employee newsletters "The Coquitlam Echo," and "The City of Coquitlam Echo." The series also consists of colour photographs submitted by city staff to be included in the Coquitlam Echo. The photographs include those that were used in the various issues between 1998 and 2003 as well as additional photographs from employee events.

Community Planning Library

The series consists of reports, plans, publications, books and other reference material from the library of the Community Planning division of the Planning and Development Department. The Community Planning Library was collected and arranged by the division.

The series also consists of reports and other reference material donated by the Coquitlam Public Library.

The series includes two subseries: Strategic Plans and Corporate Business Plans. Subseries 01 includes the Strategic Plans for the following years: 1997, 2000, 2003, 2006, 2009-2011, 2012-2015, and 2020-2023. Subseries 02 includes the Corporate Business Plans for 1997-1999 and 1999-2001.

Annual Reports and Financial Statements (1992-2020)

The series consists of the Annual Reports, Statements of Financial Information, and Consolidated Financial Statements for 1992 to 2018. The Annual Reports vary slightly throughout the years but generally include a civic directory, a message from the Mayor, a Treasurer's report, an Auditor's report, maps, photographs, an organization chart, and financial statements. For the years 1994 to 2002, and 2008-2009 the series includes the Annual Report and a separate Statement of Financial Information. For the years 2010-2013 the series includes Consolidated Financial Statements.

Coquitlam 125 records

The subseries consists of records created as part of the Coquitlam 125 anniversary celebrations that took place over the course of 2016. The subseries includes PDF copies of stories that were submitted to the coquitlam125.ca website, as well as photographs and videos taken by a group of artists (Artists Rendering Tales Collective Inc.) commissioned by the City of Coquitlam to document events throughout the year.
