Maillardville records

The series consists of the following: A copy of the submission to the Canada Royal Commission on Bilingualism and Biculturalism entitled "Maillardville French-Canadians"; several copies of the Maillardville Official Community Plan; a copy of the program for the Millside School's 80th Anniversary; a Parish Report from Notre Dame de Lourdes; a history of the Maillardville pioneers; Commercial design guidelines for Maillardville; and a copy of the "Bonjour Maillardville" newsletter from the Société Maillardville-Uni.

Coquitlam Survey (Maillardville)

The file consists of a variety of photographic material that was likely used in the preparation of a publication, though the specific publication is unknown. Some of the prints are taken from the large format negatives in File 1 of this collection. Predominantly, the negatives depict houses in the Coquitlam area, but there are also some negatives and prints of historical photographs of early Coquitlam.

Community initiatives and organizational materials

The series relates to Boire's involvement with several community organizations and initiatives in Maillardville. Firstly, it encompasses the records of Boire's time with the Maillardville Residents' Association (MRA), on its Maillardville revitalization and planning Task Force, which was instrumental for advocating for development activities. The series also contains records about the development of Place Maillardville, the Coquitlam Heritage Society, as well as the Vancity Maillardville Advisory Committee. The series consists of administrative records including minutes relating to the Coquitlam Heritage Society as well as minutes, reports, and correspondence relating to the development and renovations of Mackin House and Heritage Square. The series also includes plans for the restoration of Mackin House from 1993.

The file documents aquatic events and activities undertaken by the District of Coquitlam Parks and Recreation Department, as well as the development of aquatic centres across Coquitlam, including Blue Mountain Pool, Chimo Pool, Glen Park Pool, and Mundy Park Pool. Records include photographs, correspondence, newspaper clippings, architectural drawings of pools, and an organizational chart of pool staff.

Parks, Playgrounds, and Sports Fields

The file consists of newspaper clippings and photographs describing activities undertaken by the District of Coquitlam Parks and Recreation Department in Coquitlam parks, playgrounds, and sports fields. Stone Carver Documentaries (Patrick Sullivan)

The file consists of a selection of documentaries (on one DVD) on the subject of stone carver, Patrick Sullivan who hosted a stone carving symposium with other carvers in Coquitlam's Blue Mountain Park from 1985-1987. The series also consists of a one-page biography of Sullivan.

Lady of Lourdes Gymnastics

The file contains photographs and photocopies of the different Our Lady of Lourdes Gymnastics teams and events from the 1950s, which Cunnings was involved in teaching. The images depict acrobatics, trampoline, parallel bars, vaulting, still rings, balancing, and human pyramids.

Personal and professional records

The series consists of records created and accumulated by Cunnings and reflect his personal and professional interests. These records were accumulated by Cunnings for the purposes of reference and posterity rather than documenting the activities of the District of Coquitlam Parks and Recreation Department during his tenure.

The personal records consist of a letter of appointment as well as a selection of documentaries used by Cunnings as reference. His professional records contain photographs, ephemera, and correspondence generated in the course of Cunnings' positions as a gymnastics teacher at Our Lady of Lourdes, the Division Head of Essondale's Crease Clinic Recreation Therapy Department, and as a founding member of Coquitlam Search and Rescue (SAR).

District of Coquitlam Parks and Recreation Department records

The series documents the activities that Cunnings was involved with and led during his tenure at the District of Coquitlam Parks and Recreation Department and the development of the Department over time.

The series is arranged into thirteen files according to subject, and consists of textual records, photographs, ephemera, and newspaper clippings detailing sports, recreational programs and classes, parks and facility development, and events and initiatives undertaken by the Department, such as BC Summer Games, and Coquitlam Centennial celebrations.

The fonds consists of records created and accumulated by Don Cunnings, documenting his involvement in sport and recreation in Coquitlam. The archivist arranged the fonds into two series. One series documents the activities of Cunnings during his tenure at the District of Coquitlam Parks and Recreation Department. The second series consists of personal and professional records accumulated by Cunnings, documenting his various professional positions for reference and posterity.

The records include photographs, newspaper clippings, newsletters, correspondence, recorded documentaries, two scrapbooks, and assorted textual records and ephemera.

The file consists of records from the first graduation ceremony at Centennial School in 1967, including a ticket for the ceremony, a program, and the menu.

Recreation and Cultural Centres

The file documents the various recreation and cultural centres in Coquitlam as well as their development through time. The records include information about Dogwood Pavilion, Chimo Pool, the Coquitlam Sports Centre, and the Social Recreation Centre. Records include programs, newspaper articles, and photographs.
